We are always worried about the bearings on an offset smoker. The heat from the firebox may melt some of the grease and cause failure of the bearings. We installed Bearing Buddies that we purchased at a boat dealer. These replace the dust caps on the axle and have a grease fitting which you can pack the bearings with grease. We use the best high temperature synthetic grease we can get.
